Government grants are the grants or these are the financial aid provided by the government without any interest rates and these grants are not to be repaid back. Hence, these are a very good step for students aiming for higher education.
Requirements for student grants:-
- One of the common myths for acquiring student grants is that the students think that there are many students competing for the grants and one will not get it. This is true but not completely true. There are many students but the resources too are abundant and hence due to lack of awareness billions of dollars go unused. Hence the basic requirement is research. There is approximately $93 billion available for students this year itself.
- The applicant must be a US citizen, or eligible non-citizen, or permanent resident.
- The applicant must have a valid social security number.
- One does not require any credit checks, collateral, security deposits or co-signers.
- There is wide range of grants for students under education, and not all of them need to be given to low income family groups.
- Even if one has filed a bankruptcy, or has a bad credit, one can get a grant.
- The applicant needs to fill the FAFSA (free application for federal student aid) online before the deadline which is usually January 1st is the starting date.
- One is also required to submit W2 form, driver’s license, bank statements and even an alien registration card sometimes.
- The financial records required are just to ensure the finance needed versus the amount requested.
- A student is also required to give an estimation of the required university including tuition fees, hostel charges, books etc.
Requirements for women grants:-
Today’s women want themselves to free from traditional household chores and make an identity for themselves. Hence, women grants are the grants given exclusively to them. This year alone the amount is around $98.5 billion, out of which majority is for education.
- Many criteria are similar as above such as research, US citizenship, FAFSA form filling, documentation etc.
- Besides these women should be above 18 years, should have a good percentile or IQ level, one must be very good at some sport activity.
- There are some special education grants for disable women, hence while filling the form one must mention the disability as well.
- There are separate education grants for single mothers, for widows etc. hence the marital status of the applicant must be clearly mentioned.
There are innumerable government grants offered for various purposes and types. Hence, one should research carefully and extensively as knowing is half battle won.
